During our day trip to the Istrian peninsula last week, we visited Motovun on our way back from Poreč.
Motovun is located inland on the peninsula. The town is built up on a hill, surrounded by a lovely expansive valley. It dates back to the medieval period, and has an old stone wall that runs a circle around the town at the top of the hill. We spent about an hour and a half in Motovun, just exploring the little narrow streets, finishing with a drink overlooking the valley below. The town is also well known for its annual film festival. It’s a great option for a short day trip if you’re in Istria.
